Chain bridge

One of the oldest, most known bridge of Hungary is definitely the most beautiful one, called Chain Bridge. Its main task is to contact the Pest and Buda side with each other, however it also the main tourist attraction of the city. Travelers from all around the world gather here to enjoy the spectacular view of Budapest from the bridge. It even looks beautiful at night with all of the bright lights of the city!

Built between 1840 and 1849 the Chain Bridge became not just the continent's but the whole worlds longest bridge with its 202 metres. Sadly, a decade later it was blown up in WW2 in 1945 and was only rebuilt four years later.

Nowadays its importance as a functioning bridge became smaller, as there are lots of other bridges now across the Danube, but it's still one of the most important sights of Budapest. So take a moment and enjoy the marvellous view and the giant lion statues at both of the bridgeheads while sipping your cocktails!
