Andrássy Avenue

A little touch of Paris in the middle of Budapest: that's what the marvelous Andrássy Avenue provides for the tourists. Starting from the edge of the downtown at the City Park, the Avenue guides us through many beautiful places and buildings, including the famous Opera House of Budapest, embassies and luxury shops and ending in the pumping heart of the city, at Erzsébet Square.

The prominent boulevard was built at the end of the 1800's as most of the famous Hungarian sights. The main reasons for its importance was to discharge the paralell Király street from heavy traffic. It survived three name changes, but after 1990 it got back its offical name.

Since 2002, Andrássy Avenue is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
